Well written, very descriptive, day by day report of the war. I was most interested in Natasha, which the description of the book lead me to believe and why I bought it. I skipped a lot of the extreme details of the war. I gave it three stars because it was written well, but thought it dragged on too much and was misleading since it went into such detail about the war. It could have been two books! I purchased it at Amazon, where I purchase all books.Product details

This was a really good read, for me because the movie "welcome to sarajevo" is a favorite of mine and it was based on this story, so it was great to find out more about what happened to Natasha and how succesful her rescue was.
Ok book
Because i live in Balcan region, I was a bit bothered with wrong names of some places Mr. Nicholson mentions in this book...Krijina should be Krajina, Srebenica should be Srebrenica etc. Nothing really important one would say but...some of these places are worth being at least named right because of all the atrocities that happened there in the 90's...Otherwise i recommend this book big time.
A sad, tragic account, with a glimmer of hope found in the life rescue of a little girl who get's a better chance at life.
This is a great story. It is sad that more children did not escape. While I enjoyed the story, the delivery was not good. I ordered an E-book. Words were missing. The story did not flow from page to page. The last half of the e-book seemed better than the first half.
Multi-layered odyssey depicting the intricacies of life, love, war, culture, bureaucracies and human values. With a little bit of journalism thrown in the mix. Not only did Michal Nicholson make the right call when he rescued Natasha, retelling the story with all of the subtle background nuances that went mostly unreported by traditional press agencies was enlightening.
I skipped through alot. I really just wanted to know about the little girl. Too much writing about the war there and I wanted to know more about life back in England
